Rotary Club of Orange Welcomes Earthquest’s Robert Haynes & Feathered Ambassadors

Feb 13, 2025 | Club News, Orange

Rotarians were recently visited by Robert Haynes of Earthquest – Wildlife Education Center a non-profit organization dedicated to environmental education using non-releasable birds of prey and rescued parrots. Robert’s mission is to educate the public in a fun, engaging way while promoting conservation—what he calls “Education Without Exploitation!”

During his visit to the Orange Rotary Club, Robert introduced two of Earthquest’s incredible avian ambassadors: a vibrant Macaw named Scarlet (90 years old), and a majestic American Kestrel named Sassafras, who is in the process of learning how to hunt. His presentation gave Rotarians a unique, up-close experience with these amazing birds while highlighting the importance of wildlife conservation and habitat preservation.

Earthquest has made a lasting impact in Orange County, visiting countless students in local schools and inspiring the next generation to care for our natural world. Robert has also participated in various community events, including the “Playin’ in the Park” Independence Celebration, where he conducted a hawk demonstration.

Through their hands-on, interactive approach, Robert and Earthquest continue to bring wildlife education to people of all ages, fostering a deeper appreciation for birds of prey and their role in the environment.
