Memorial Christmas Tree Celebration – Town of Orange, VA

For over 40 years, the Community Memorial Christmas Tree has been lighting up Taylor Park every first Sunday in December since 1978! This cherished tradition began with a special tree donated and planted by local couple Irwin and Welford Sherman in memory of their son, David.

In 1985, the Rotary Club of Orange was entrusted with the care and management of this beautiful tradition, and we’re honored to keep it going strong to this day.

This year, we invited you to dedicate a light in remembrance or honor of a special loved one, ensuring their memory shines brightly during the holiday season.

Thank you to everyone who lit a light for their loved ones this year. Your participation adds to the meaning and magic of this cherished event. Be sure to visit Taylor Park to admire the beautiful Memorial Christmas Tree and experience its warm, festive glow.

We also extend our gratitude to Reverend Allan Miller, Orange Baptist Church for his inspiring words on the meaning of Christmas, reminding us of the season’s spirit of love and togetherness.

Highlights of the Evening:

• Children shared their wish lists and captured cherished photos with Santa.
• Hot Chocolate warmed our hearts (and hands!) provided by Boy Scout Troop 14
• Christmas caroling led by the talented Orange County Public Schools High School Choir added festive joy.
• Holiday songs filled the air with cheer, creating a magical atmosphere.
